Incessant rain in the upper reaches of Himachal has created a crisis situation for Punjab. The entire Punjab government is engaged in rescue operations day and night. But now preparations are underway to open the gates of Nangal Dam. Due to this, apart from the river Sutlej, there will be problems in other gorges and low-lying areas.

In a letter sent by the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) to the concerned authority of the Punjab government, it has been stated that due to rising water level in Bhakra, water has been released in the Nangal Dam. But due to high water in the dam, its gates will also have to be opened on July 13. The message sent by BBMB said that the current release from Bhakra is 19 thousand cusecs. In view of the high influx, it has been decided to release more than 16 thousand cusecs of water.

Now on July 13, a total of 35 thousand cusecs of water will be released from Bhakra through the turbine in 10 hours. Due to this, water should be released downstream from Nangal Dam in Sutlej River and it will be increased in phases including about 20 thousand cusecs (NGT) of 640 cusecs.
