Let us tell you, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced in its holiday calendar that banks in India will remain closed for 10 days in February this year. Holidays also include various festivals, 2nd and 4th Saturdays and all Sundays.

Here is the list of holidays

  1. February 15 (Wednesday): Banks will remain closed on the occasion of Lui-Ngai-Ni, Mahashivaratri (Maha Vad-14), Statehood Day and Losar in Manipal State.
  2. February 18, (3rd Saturday): Banks will remain closed in most states except Tripura, Mizoram, Chandigarh, Tamil Nadu, Sikkim, Assam, Manipur, Rajasthan, Bengal, Delhi, Goa, Bihar and Meghalaya.
  3. February 20 (Monday): Banks will remain closed in Mizoram on account of Mizoram Statehood Day.
  4. February 21 (Tuesday): Banks will remain closed in Sikkim on the occasion of Losar.

Most of the festivals are regional.

Since most of these festivals are regional, only banks located in the state will remain closed amid the festive activities in the region. According to the Reserve Bank of India, all these holidays are under the Negotiable Instruments Act. Branches of all public sector and private sector banks, foreign banks, co-operative banks and regional banks will remain closed on bank holidays as notified by RBI. The holidays will be applicable under three categories namely ‘Holidays under Negotiable Instruments Act’, ‘Holidays under Negotiable Instruments Act’ and ‘Real Time Gross Settlement Holidays’ and ‘Bank ‘Closing of Accounts’.

These services will remain operational even on holidays

Online and net banking services will remain operational. So, if you are planning to visit your bank branch for any important work related to the bank. So check once whether your work can be done online or not. If possible, you can complete it any day.
