The latest Austrian statistics have revealed that between November 2022 and January 2023, a total of 30.81 million overnight stays were reported in Austrian accommodation establishments.

Such data also shows that the figures were 57.2 per cent higher than in the same period of 2021-2022, SchengenVisaInfo.com reports.

In this regard, the General Director of Statistics of Austria, Tobias Thomas, said that the year 2023 has started with an increase in overnight stays of 48.1 per cent compared to January of last year.

According to him, the number of beds is significantly more than half above the value of 2021 and only eight per cent below the record pre-crisis level from November 2019 to January 2020.

Further statistics also show that the total of 30.81 million beds registered between 2022-2023 means that it was still 8.03 per cent below the pre-crisis level of 33.50 million beds in the winter season of 2019/2020.

โ€œBoth the overnight stays of non-resident and resident guests (23.6 million and 7.2 million, respectively) have not yet reached the level of the same period in 2019/20 by 8.4 per cent and 6.9 per cent, respectively,โ€ the reports reads.

30.81 million overnight stays recorded in the first half of the 2023 winter season saw an increase of 57.2 per cent more overnight stays compared to the first half of the 2022 winter season with 19.60 million overnight stays.

Based on the report, 23.36 per cent of overnight stays, or 7.20 million, were attributed to resident guests, representing an increase of 42.2 per cent. Meanwhile, the non-resident guests also increased significantly by +9.07 million with 62.4 per cent to 23.61 million.
