Attack on the police headquarters in Karachi, Pakistan, 7 people died

The news of an attack by terrorists has come out in Pakistan’s Karachi. In Pakistan’s most populous city, Karachi, unidentified armed terrorists attacked the police chief’s office on Friday. After which 3 terrorists and 4 other people were killed in a fierce shootout between the security personnel and the attackers. This is the latest attack on security forces amid a surge in terrorist attacks across the country. The attack took place around 7.10 pm local time.

A Karachi Police spokesperson confirmed in a statement that the Karachi Police Headquarters had been attacked. Karachi Police Chief Javed Odho also confirmed in a tweet that his office was attacked. He said that security forces retaliated forcefully. After about 4 hours of action, the law enforcement agencies vacated the 5-storey office of the city police chief. Sindh government spokesperson Murtaza Wahab tweeted from his official Twitter handle that the building has been evacuated.

He said, “Three terrorists have been killed. In the video shared on Twitter, he said that 4 people including 2 police officers also died. 14 people including security personnel were injured in the attack. Police sources had earlier said that there were 8 terrorists in the building.” Senior police officer DIG (South) Irfan Baloch said, “Some terrorists entered the building from the back side, while 2 in police uniform entered through the main gate.”

He said, “We also found 2 cars, whose doors were open. One was standing at the back entrance of the building and the other at the front, into which the terrorists entered around 7:10 am on Friday. They first threw 6 hand grenades at the main office of the Karachi Police Chief’s office building and then entered the complex. Entered The Karachi police chief’s office is located near the city’s main road leading to the airport.
