Appointment Letters to assistant linemen of PSPCL: Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann while handing over appointment letters to 1320 assistant linemen of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) on Saturday said that the state government has set a new record by giving government jobs to 28362 youth in the first year of its tenure.

Addressing a large number of candidates during the appointment letter distribution ceremony, the Chief Minister said that the job carries a very important responsibility for the selected candidates as they have to serve the society with a missionary spirit. The Chief Minister said that all the candidates have been selected purely on the basis of merit and transparency and this job is the result of their hard work.

Bhagwant Mann while welcoming the youth to become a part of the family by the Punjab government expressed hope that they will perform their duty with honesty and integrity. CM Mann said that there is no short cut for success and only hard work can make a common man fulfill his dreams. He said that this job is not his final destination as he still has many stages to cross in his life.

Punjab CM Mann said that the newly elected candidates should continue their hard work and success will come to them in one form or another. He also asked the candidates to stay away from the company of negative thinking people as they hinder the progress of the state. He said that the people of Punjab have brought a new change in the politics of the state by forming the AAP government.

Bhagwant Mann said, “Those who did not come out of the palaces while in power have been removed from the political map of the state.” The Chief Minister said that electricity is most important for the development of any state, therefore PSPCL is truly the backbone of Punjab. He said that being an agricultural state, meeting the electricity supply is a big challenge for any government.

He said that it is a matter of great pride and satisfaction that due to the tireless efforts of the government, the days of long cuts in the state are over as Punjab is moving towards generating surplus electricity.

The Chief Minister said that due to the efforts of his government, the power generation in the state has increased by 83 percent. Bhagwant Mann said that supply of coal for power generation from Pachwara coal mine has resumed after many years. He said that so far 5 lakh metric tonnes of coal has been obtained from this coal mine and it has played an important role in increasing power supply.

Bhagwant Mann said that due to the concerted efforts of his government, the Central Government agreed to waive the mandatory condition of RSR (Rail-Sea-Rail) for supply of coal from Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) to Talwandi Sabo Power Limited (TSPL). was Bhagwant Mann said that he raised this issue of arbitrariness with the Union Power Minister during the meeting, after which a decision was taken in this regard. He said that the Punjab government is fully committed to protect the interests of the state.

Punjab CM said that the state government is committed to strengthen PSPCL. Bhagwant Mann said that he has already asked all the departments to deposit their outstanding bills with PSPCL so that its financial position can be strengthened. He said that apart from the traditional methods of generating electricity, other methods of generating electricity are also being encouraged in the state.

He further said that the state government is promoting crop diversification on a large scale to save water and electricity in Punjab. He hoped that this would help in reducing the pressure of power generation on PSPCL and the surplus power would also be used for the development of other sectors. Bhagwant Mann said that the state government is committed to protect the interests of the state and its farmers by ensuring adequate marketing of alternative crops.

The Chief Minister said that every step of his government is aimed at improving the standard of living of the common man. He said that 600 units of free electricity, employment, renovation of schools and hospitals and other decisions are working to change the mood of the state. Bhagwant Mann vowed that every decision of his government will ensure the welfare of the common man and the state.

The Chief Minister said that education, health and employment are the three major sectors of his government. He said that major changes will be seen in these three areas in the current year as the state government is working for it with full enthusiasm. Bhagwant Mann said that the main focus of the state government is to stop the trend of youth going abroad from the state through solid infrastructure and manpower in these sectors.

Earlier, Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO welcomed the Chief Minister and other dignitaries.
