Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has written to Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde, requesting him to withdraw his ‘send stray dogs to Assam’ remark and express regret to state MLA Bachchu Kadu.

What did Himanta Biswa Sarma write in the letter

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote that, “Along with the people of Assam, I am extremely disappointed and agitated by the comments of the above MLA, who has expressed his prejudices and ignorance about the culture of our state. I am sure you will fully sympathize with the feelings of the people of Assam in this matter.

Controversial statement why MLA Bachhu Kadu

MLA Bachchu Kadu had said in a statement earlier this month that stray dogs should be sent to Assam because people there eat dogs. Describing a better option, said that for the time being it should be started from one city. If it is successful then it should be implemented in the entire state.

Troubled MLA Bachchu Kadu

Citing his recent visit to Assam, Kadu had said that dogs are sold for Rs 8,000-9,000 in Assam and called upon traders to find solutions to tackle the menace of stray dogs in Maharashtra. For which animal rights activists had criticized him a lot. Prahar Janshakti Party leader Omprakash Babarao has now found himself in trouble by giving controversial statements.
