Indian para athlete Raman Sharma Hangzhou, China (Hangzhou, China) has set a new Asian and Games record by winning the gold medal in the men’s 1500m T38 event at the ongoing Asian Para Games 2023. Raman Sharma won the final by completing the race in 4:20.80 minutes. With this achievement, India’s gold medal tally in the Games now stands at 20.
Earlier today, archer Sheetal Devi won the gold medal by defeating Singapore’s Aleem Noor Sayahida 144-142 in the final of the women’s individual compound open competition.
India has won more than 80 medals so far
On Thursday, Indian para-athletes created history as the country recorded its highest ever medal tally at the Asian Para Games, winning a total of 72 medals in the 2018 edition. In the 2023 edition, India have won over 80 medals so far and are in a strong position heading into the showpiece event in Hangzhou, China.
