Defense Minister Rajnath Singh met the army players who won medals in the Asian Games. Meanwhile, he said – we have won a total of 107 medals in the Asiad this year. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has announced cash prizes for the armed forces players who bring home medals in the Asian Games. On Tuesday, he said that players who bring gold medals will be given Rs 25 lakhs, silver medalists will be given Rs 15 lakhs and bronze medalists will be given Rs 10 lakhs. He said that Indian athletes have made all of us Indians proud with their performance in the Asian Games. This performance by all of you is a sign of a new and stronger India as well as a rapidly growing India.
Although bringing pride to the country by bringing a medal is the best award in itself, yet on behalf of the Defense Ministry family, I would like to announce that all the Gold medal winners will be given Rs 25 lakh, Silver medal winners will be given Rs 15 lakh and Bronze medal winners will be given Rs 25 lakh. He reminded them of the flying Sikh Milkha Singh, who missed out on a medal in the 400m race at the 1960 Rome Olympics, but became a guiding star in Indian athletics and remains an inspiration to all today. Rajnath Singh expressed confidence that these medals and performances will inspire the youth of the country to come forward in sports.
