Vigilance Bureau Punjab has arrested Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Bikar Singh (No. 2365/Sangrur) red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs. .

Giving information in this regard, the spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said that the above accused has been arrested on the basis of a complaint filed by Baljit Singh, a resident of village Toorbanjara, Tehsil Dirba. He further said that the complainant approached the Vigilance Bureau and told that the said ASI. Bikar Singh is demanding a bribe of Rs 10,000 for helping his acquaintance Gurvinder Singh get anticipatory bail in a case registered at Dirba police station.

He further said that after the preliminary investigation of this complaint, the Vigilance Bureau Patiala Range laid a trap and caught the said policeman red-handed by taking a bribe of Rs. 10,000 from the complainant in the presence of two government witnesses.

He said that ASI A case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act at Vigilance Bureau Police Station Patiala Range and further proceedings have been initiated against Bikar Singh.
