New Delhi / Gandhinagar. According to a big news received from Gujarat, a court here on Monday convicted self-styled godman Asaram Bapu in a decade-old sexual harassment case. On the other hand, today i.e. on Tuesday, the court will now pronounce the sentence regarding this matter.
It is noteworthy that Asaram Bapu was accused by a Surat woman of repeatedly raping him at his ashram in Motera, Ahmedabad about 10 years ago. Asaram Bapu was then booked under sections 342 (wrongful confinement), 354A (sexual assault), 370(4) (trafficking), 376 (rape), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 120(b) of the Indian Penal Code regarding the seriousness of the matter. The charges were framed under (criminal conspiracy).
Along with this, Asaram’s son Narayan Sai was also a co-accused in this case. Also, in this high-profile case, Asaram’s wife Lakshmi, daughter Bharati and four female followers – Dhruvben, Nirmala, Jassi and Meera – were also made accused. However, all of them were earlier acquitted by the Gandhinagar court.
It should be known that the self-styled saint Asaram, who had a lot of popularity in the country and abroad, was the operator of more than 450 small and big ashrams in the country. He is currently in jail for a long time after the rape cases came to light.
Be aware that the police had arrested Asaram Bapu in August 2013 from Indore. Later he was brought to Jodhpur. In fact, in the year 2013, on January 30, the Gandhinagar Sessions Court convicted Asaram Bapu for raping two sisters from Surat in Gujarat. Asaram is currently lodged in Jodhpur jail. In which case he will be punished.
