Patiala: A terrible accident took place on Saturday evening near Pathar in Punjab, which is adjacent to Fatiabad district of Haryana. An auto full of women going to offer obeisance at the Patdar temple from Jakhal fell 7-8 feet down the road into the drain. All 15 people in the auto sustained serious injuries. They were taken to hospital on stretchers where three women later died. The rest of the injured have been referred to Patiala Samana Hospital. There were 11 women and four children in the auto.

It is to be mentioned that all of them were coming from Jakhal city of Haryana by this auto to offer obeisance in Sri Khatu Shyam Mandir Patdar. As soon as the tempo reached the bridge of Bhupindra Sagar Drain, popularly known as Jhambo Chow, near village Khanewal, behind the tracks, the tempo suddenly lost its balance and fell into the drain.

According to information, the railing of this bridge has been broken for a long time. Due to this broken railing, after hearing the screams of the fallen passengers along with the uncontrolled auto, the passers-by quickly pulled everyone out, but Renu Rani and Geeta Rani died on the spot.

The rest were taken to the hospital, but the condition of four of them was serious, so they were referred to Rajindra Hospital in Patiala. Another woman Kamlesh Rani also died on the way before reaching Patiala while Lovepreet Singh, Krishna Rani and Janvi Sharma are undergoing treatment in the hospital in Patiala and the rest of the injured are undergoing treatment in Patiala.
