Leh Routes Opened: The Border Roads Organization (BRO) has opened all three routes to Leh in record time. This strategically important area will be connected by road in all seasons.
Called the lifeline of Ladakh, these routes also connect Srinagar and Manali. Along with this, the Atal tunnel of Himachal is also connected. BRO has done an excellent job by opening these routes in record time.
439 km long route
The 439 km long route was inaugurated on March 16 in 68 days. The Srinagar route was closed near Zojilav at an altitude of 11,540 feet. It had to be closed for a few months due to heavy snowfall.
On the other hand, the 427 km long Manali-Leh road through Atal tunnel was opened after 138 days whereas it was opened only in May-June. Apart from this, the Nimmu-Padma-Darcha road was opened after 55 days, which is located at an altitude of about 16,561 feet. All these three routes have been built to connect Ladakh and are yet to be built up to Blacktop.
Routes opened 3-4 months ago
Usually these routes were opened only in May-June summer but now they are opened 3-4 months earlier. This will facilitate the movement of the army. Along with this, common citizens will also get the facility to travel. Given the hot issue with China, it is very important that there will be more troop movement on this route.
The opening of this road will also facilitate the movement of trucks, due to which goods will be easily accessible to the general public. People and working laborers of Ladakh will now be able to travel in less time and money. Because roads were closed due to snow, expensive air travel was required.
BRO did a great job
An important pass from India’s point of view could be started by BRO. Zojila pass is being developed and will be launched soon. On the other hand, the opening of Shinku La will provide connectivity in every season. Due to this, the general life here will be better and the movement of the army will also be easier because these roads used to be closed for 6 months in a year due to snow.
