All civil works of Halwara International Airport likely to be completed by July

International Airport at Halwara: Punjab Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO informed that the construction of Halwara International Airport is likely to be completed by July 2023. He said that the tenders for all the construction works have already been allotted by the Public Works Department (PWD).

He expressed this while inspecting the ongoing construction works of the international airport under construction at Halwara. On this occasion, MLA Hakam Singh Thekedar of Halka Raikot, Deputy Commissioner Surbhi Malik, SSP of Ludhiana (Rural) were present with him. Apart from Navneet Singh Bains, others were also present.

Addressing the gathering on this occasion, the Cabinet Minister said that civil works costing Rs 46.91 crore have been started. These works include construction of internal roads, taxi way, apron, estate public health services, campus lighting, interim airport, terminal building, sub station, toilet block, parking etc.

Describing the Halwara airport as a major project of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the cabinet minister said that all possible efforts are being made to start flights from this airport as soon as possible, which will pave the way for the all-round development of this region. Apart from this, it will prove to be extremely beneficial for the industry of Ludhiana and other nearby districts.

The Cabinet Minister said that large aircrafts can land easily at this airport. He said that Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is also taking keen interest in this project. He said that in January this year, the Chief Minister himself inspected the ongoing work at Civil Air Terminal Halwara and asked the officials to speed up the work. So that it can be completed as soon as possible.
