In this, attention is being given to schemes such as digging of ponds, benefit of biofloc unit, fee feed mill, refrigerated vehicle, vehicle facility, construction of fish kiosk, construction of ice plant etc. Under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana, this facility is being given to the beneficiaries associated with it. Due to the speedy work in these schemes, Patna district is at the first place in the state. 97 people have been benefited under the scheme. As a result, according to the consumption of fish in Patna district, it is on the verge of being self-sufficient in production.

Consumption of about 23 thousand metric tons of fish per year

About 23 thousand metric tonnes of fish is consumed annually in Patna district. At present, 17.65 thousand metric tonnes of fish is being produced in Patna district. It is expected that by March, fish production will start as per the consumption. On January 28, 2023, the Chief Minister inspected the work being done including bioflock pond in Murtajapur village of Belchi block. Since then the work has picked up pace.

97 people got benefit under the scheme

Under Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana, 97 people have got benefits in the district. The benefit of the scheme has been received for 2020-21 and 2021-22. In this, establishment of large feed meal plant for fish feed, refrigerated vehicle, mobile fish kiosk, construction of biofloc pond, construction of new pond, construction of ice plant, including motorcycle ice box, bicycle ice box, construction of rearing pond, Construction of live fish selling center etc. is included. Fish feed plant has been set up in Masaurhi and Khusrupur zones for fish feed. Its actual capacity is 20 tonnes per day.

Under the scheme, there is a provision of grant for different components to the beneficiaries. 1.60 lakh to other class and 2.40 lakh to SCST women for construction of new pond, 5.60 lakh and 8.40 lakh for construction of bioflock pond, 16 lakh and 24 lakh for setting up ice plant, 10 lakh and 15 lakh for refrigerated vehicle. .

Youth being given training after counseling

To promote fisheries in the district, youth are being trained. For this, counseling is being done for the youth. The work of training women is also being done. Official sources said that by promoting fish production, employment opportunities are increasing.

District Fisheries Officer Manish Kumar Srivastava said that people are being given benefits under PM Matsya Sampada Yojana to promote fish production. It has the facility of grant in different components. Counseling is being done along with training the people associated with the fish business.
