According to an agency in Pakistan, he had 10 lions and some other pets, which he kept in his 'dera'. Rob was such that Arif was always surrounded by guards armed with guns and automatic weapons. After the death of Arif, there was a sensation all over Pakistan. Shah Alam Market, the largest wholesale market in Lahore at that time, was closed due to security reasons. Because after Arif's death, his supporters did a lot of violence demanding justice. Later, when Arif was cremated in Lahore, many of his supporters and big politicians had also arrived. Among them were Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) MNA Bilal Yasin and several other businessmen from Shahlam Market.
Shahbaz Sain, the prime suspect in the murder of underworld don Arif, hailed from Gwalmandi area of Lahore. Soon after her death he fled to Dubai. He was the gang leader of Arif's rival gang which operated from Dubai in Lahore. Later in 2012, he also killed two key witnesses to Arif's murder, Mian Asif and Malik Ahsan.

He was also involved in the murder of several people belonging to his father's rival gang. On Sunday, Aamir was also shot dead by an unknown assailant. According to the police, Balaj had come to attend a wedding function on Sunday evening. Then an unknown assailant opened fire on three people including Balaz. Before he could target anyone else, Blaz's bodyguards killed the assailant. Meanwhile, Balaj and two other injured were taken to Jinnah Hospital. Balaj died during treatment there.
