The central government is on alert mode after the murder of Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj. Under the leadership of Home Minister Amit Shah, an SOP will be drawn up for the safety of journalists as the three youths who attacked Atiq Ahmed in police custody joined the mob as media workers. This step is being taken to provide security to journalists.

Sources say that the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah is going to prepare a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the protection of journalists. Atiq Ahmed and Ashraf Ahmed, who were in police custody in the Umesh Pal murder case, were murdered near Calvin Hospital late on Saturday night.

Both are being taken to the hospital for medical examination. Meanwhile, the attackers who came in unknown vehicles surrendered after carrying out the incident. According to the FIR, the accused said that they wanted to wipe out the Atiq-Ashraf gang, so that their name would be known in the state. Those people could not anticipate the police encirclement and were caught due to intense police action.

It should be said that at present police have been deployed on the streets of Prayagraj. The district boundaries have been sealed. The RAF has also been called to the spot along with the police. Police are monitoring every action. The police have received strict vigilance instructions from CM Yogi. The round of meetings continued in the state till late last night.
