The father of deceased Harjit Singh had filed a writ in the Punjab and Haryana High Court in this case. At that time, Harjit Singh’s father did not know that the police had killed his son.
The father had alleged that his son Harjit Singh was picked up by the police on April 29, 1992 from Thatthiyan bus stand near Sathiyala in Amritsar and kept in the Mal Mandi interrogation centre. It may be mentioned that after 14 days the police killed Harjit Singh along with two other youths Lakhwinder Singh and Jaswinder Singh in a fake encounter.
