Action against gun culture, 538 firearms licenses cancelled

Strictly against gun culture in Jalandhar district, 538 firearm licenses have been canceled in the district on Friday. This action has been taken by Deputy Commissioner Jaspreet Singh. Giving more information in this regard, the Deputy Commissioner said that according to the orders issued by the state government, the arms licenses issued to individuals by the administration were reviewed, after which these licenses have been canceled with immediate effect.

According to the information, out of 538 canceled licenses, 362 have been suspended due to negative police reports during the license renewal process. Along with this, the remaining 176 licenses have been canceled due to various reasons. Of these, 101 firearm licenses have been canceled due to the death of the license holders. In 25 cases the licensees have left the country and settled abroad. While during the re-verification process, the police report has been found negative in 50 cases.

The Deputy Commissioner has made it clear that no one will be allowed to take law and order into their own hands and strict action will be ensured by the district administration if anyone is found misusing their licensed firearms.
