Bureau Report: Air conditioner cabins will be mandatory for truck drivers from 2025. Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has announced this. At a program at Mahindra Logistics, Gadkari said when I became a minister, I came to know how the condition of drivers deteriorates in temperatures of 44 to 47 degrees. I had proposed AC cabin, some people protested saying that it will increase the price, but now I have signed that the truck should have AC cabin for the drivers.

Gadkari said there is a need to improve the working condition of drivers and the shortage of drivers can be removed by establishing more driving schools. This step of the government will give a lot of relief to the drivers of the country. Who stay on the driving seat for 14-16 hours in every season.

It is necessary to reduce the logistic cost

Gadkari said that due to shortage of drivers, existing drivers in India work for 14-16 hours. While in other countries, the working hours of truck drivers are fixed. He said that India’s civilization is advancing rapidly. In such a situation, the logistics sector is very important. In order to increase India’s exports, there is a need to reduce the cost of logistics.

Volvo and Scania high-end trucks have AC cabins

High end trucks from some multinational companies like Volvo and Scania already come with AC cabin. On the other hand, if we talk about the top 5 truck companies of the country, they are TATA on the first number in terms of market cap, Mahindra & Mahindra on the second, then Aysher Motors, Ashok Leyland, Force Motors. The market cap of Tata Motors is Rs 2.11 lakh crore.
