23-year-old Amanpreet Singh Gill, a resident of Dayalpura village under Zirakpur, had gone to visit Sri Hemkunt Sahib with his friends, who died while sleeping in the hotel room. As soon as the news of Amanpreet Singh Gill’s death was received, a wave of mourning spread throughout the village. The deceased was the only brother of two sisters and was not yet married. After receiving the message, Amanpreet’s father, who is working abroad, also reached his native village Dayalpura.

On Tuesday evening, the last rites of Amanpreet Gill were performed by the people of the area who arrived in large numbers besides villagers and relatives with moist eyes. Giving information, Amanpreet Singh’s friend Ashwinder Singh said that the four friends had left home on Thursday evening and reached Gobind Dham Gurdwara Sahib around 6.30 pm on Sunday evening. Till that time Amanpreet was also fine.

Ashwinder had told that he did not get any room in the Gurdwara Sahib. So all four of them started roaming in the market to find a room. When he got a room in the hotel again, Amanpreet started saying that his health is not good. After this he was given medicine by the doctor and he started to rest.

When Amanpreet was woken up in the morning to offer obeisance to Hemkunt Sahib, he did not get up. His friends took him to the doctor, who declared Amanpreet dead. After this, they brought back the dead body and kept it in Derabassi hospital.

After this incident, the friends of deceased Amanpreet Gill are also in shock. They say that he went with us but only his dead body came back, which he will regret for the rest of his life. All political, religious and social organizations of the area, including the relatives of the deceased youth, have expressed deep grief.
