A major accident was avoided due to an accident near GT Road on Tuesday morning. A private school bus caught fire here. In time, the children sitting in the bus were taken out safely. 8 to 10 children were sitting in the bus when the fire broke out.
Bus driver Bhagat said that the bus was standing on GT Road when suddenly smoke started coming out and the bus caught fire. The driver said that there were 8-10 children in the bus going to Goyal School. The driver alleged that the fire had taken a terrible shape, yet the fire brigade vehicle arrived late.
Negligence of the fire department
The negligence of the fire department was seen even on late arrival. The driver said that the pressure of the fire brigade vehicle was not working. In such a case, water did not come out of the vehicle. The fire brigade personnel tried to turn on the pressure horn but the pressure did not start.
The flames reached the shoe shop
After this, the employees of the fire department called for another vehicle, by the time the second vehicle arrived, the flames of the bus reached the nearby shoe shop. The signboard and tarpaulin outside the shoe shop caught fire. The fire fighters had to struggle a lot to put out the fire due to the electric wires passing in front of the shop. Jasveer Singh, SDO of the electricity department, was asked to turn off the electricity over the phone. He immediately switched off the electricity.
