Included in the list of top filmmakers of the 50s, Guru Dutt gave many excellent films in his film career. He left this world at a very young age.
Guru Dutt was born on 9 July 1925 in Padukone, a small village in Karnataka. Born to Shivashankar Padukone and Vasanti Padukone, Guru’s original name was Vasant Kumar Padukone.
His father was a headmaster, who later joined a bank. Mother was a teacher there. Guru Dutt, who was struggling with economic hardship since his childhood, dropped out after completing his schooling. He never went to college.
Guru Dutt worked as a choreographer in Prabhat Film Company, but was later given the role of actor and assistant director. It was here that Rahman and Dev Anand met Guru Dutt.
A few days later, when Dev saw Guruji wearing his shirt, he asked him why he was wearing his shirt. To this Guru Dutt simply replied that he had nothing to wear, so he brought this shirt from the laundry. This was the moment when the relationship between Dev and Guru became like that of brothers.
On the evening of October 9, 1964, Guru Dutt talked a lot with his friend Abrar. Both had discussed a lot about their film. But who knew that the next morning the diamond of Hindi cinema would say goodbye to the world forever.
Guru Dutt was found dead on the morning of October 10 with his half-read novel. The news of his death shocked everyone, especially Dev Anand.
