A meeting will be held between the Chief Ministers of Haryana and Punjab today on Thursday on the Sutlej-Yamuna Link Canal (SYL) dispute. The meeting to be held at 4 pm will be chaired by Union Water Power Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. This is the third meeting between the chief ministers of the two states regarding this dispute.

The first two meetings were inconclusive. After the Supreme Court verdict, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal had written to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann expressing his desire to hold a meeting to resolve any hurdles or issues related to the construction of the SYL Canal. Although Mann also expressed his desire to attend the meeting, he is adamant as before that his state has no surplus water to distribute.
