Dr. Baljit Kaur, Minister of Social Security, Women and Child Development, Punjab today laid the foundation stone of the Rs 34.47 crore project to solve the sewerage problem of Malot city. Dr. Baljit Kaur today gave a grant of 12 crore rupees for the development of 18 villages of Malot constituency.

On this occasion, he said that the promises made by the Punjab government during the elections are being fulfilled and the problems of the people are being solved.

He s. Bhagwant Singh Maan specially thanked the Chief Minister of Punjab and said that due to his efforts this project has been approved to solve the sewerage problem of Malot residents.
He further said that efforts are being made to provide better health facilities to the people and raise the standard of education.

On this occasion, S.S.Dhilon Executive Engineer Sewerage Board Bathinda informed that 185 km of sewage is laid in the city in Malot and 95 percent of the area is covered with sewage facilities.
He further informed that in the decade of 2010-2015, due to the increased level of sem, the main sewerage was severely damaged, due to which sewage backflow is coming to a difficult pace in many areas of the city.

Due to the efforts of Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur, after listening to the complaints and problems of the people, a DPR of 34.47 crore rupees for replacing the old damaged sewerage, machinery and construction of new STP. Inderbir Singh Nijjar and S. Sunny Ahluwalia has been approved by the Chairman Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Board.

He further informed that in the first phase of this sewerage work, some part of Fajila Road and the main sewerage of Ward No. 19, 25, 26, 27 will be replaced. Along with this, generators should also be arranged to deal with power cuts by installing new machinery in damage-fighting mains and all pumping stations. The first phase will cost Rs 10 crore and the work is expected to be completed in three months.

The Cabinet Minister also announced during his visit that the construction of Malot-Sri Muktsar Sahib road will be started soon so that the commuters on this road do not face any problem.
On this occasion, besides others, district president Aam Aadmi Party Zasan Brar, Karamjit Sharma, Ramesh Kumar, Satgurdev Pappi, Madan Mohan Makkar SDO, Harjinder Singh, Rajwant Singh, Lakhwinder Singh and dignitaries were present.
