Teachers of government schools on the vigilance radar: the case of getting a job with a fake degree.

All these degree holders were posted during the time of former Education Minister Tota Singh. Satnam Singh, a member of Punjab Against Corruption, said that in 2004, the then Deputy Director of the Education Department, Ajmer Singh, formed a committee to investigate the degrees obtained only by teachers from Magadh University. Ajmer Singh was the chairperson of that committee. He investigated these fake degrees for 6 years.

A record total of 69 degrees were sought from Magadha world-universities. The university refused to award 13 degrees out of a record 69 degrees as all these degrees could not be released due to political influence. The records of 56 degrees that the university had provided at that time were all found to be fake. The then government did not take any action against the teachers who obtained these fake degrees. Ajmer Singh retired in 2009. After which the file was suppressed with collusion.

Now that RTI When the records of all the said teachers were asked for, the university is now citing that the records are missing. Meanwhile, the vigilance continued to question Principal Paramjit Kaur, after which it was revealed that she had taken a government job by giving a fake degree.

Satnam Singh said that the names of 13 degrees whose records were not found at that time have also come out today. Paramjit Kaur is also among those 13 degree holders. Therefore, it has become necessary for the Punjab government to thoroughly investigate these 12 teachers and expose the matter.

On the other hand, the RTI department has suggested the Punjab government and Vigilance to investigate the remaining 12 degree holder teachers as well so that the truth can come out.
