A bullet fired in the commando complex of Patiala

An under-training commando died of gunshot wounds during an exercise at the commando complex at Bahadurgarh in Patiala. The deceased Manjot Singh was a resident of Amritsar. His age is said to be 28 years. He was admitted to a private hospital in an injured condition, where he died.

After the information, the police of Thana Sadar Patiala and Chowki Bahadurgarh reached the spot. The police took possession of the body and sent it to Rajindra Hospital.

Relative Kamaljit said that Manjot had joined as a constable in 2020. On July 7, he came to Patiala for training. On Saturday, they received a phone call that Manjot had been shot in the head and was admitted to a private hospital in Urban Estate. Other members of his family have not reached here yet. The police will take further action after their arrival.

SP City Muhammad Sarfraz Alam said that the preliminary investigation revealed the case of accidental fire. A forensic team is investigating, post-mortem will be conducted after the family arrives. The bullet was fired from an SLR weapon and the cause of the firing is under investigation.
