Stopping Punjabi bulletins from Akashwani’s Delhi and Chandigarh centers is discrimination against Punjabis – Advocate Dhami

Amritsar News: Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, president of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, has strongly condemned the suspension of Punjabi news bulletins from Akashwani Kendras operating from the country’s capital Delhi and Punjab’s capital Chandigarh. He said that this decision of the government is discriminatory against Punjab and Punjabi language, which should be withdrawn immediately.

Advocate Dhami said that a large number of Punjabis live in Delhi, while Chandigarh being the capital of Punjab, ending Punjabi language bulletins from here is a big blow to Punjab and Punjabis. The Shiromani Committee president said that the closure of Punjabi bulletins, which has been going on for more than half a century, is guided by the partisan thinking of the government, which is natural to create frustration among Punjabis.

He said that it is necessary that the governments should make efforts to promote regional languages, but it has been the opposite. Advocate Dhami said that this is a very serious matter, on which the government should reconsider and give orders to keep the Punjabi bulletin open as before.
