Uninterrupted purchase of crops committed from April 1, adequate management in state markets: Lal Chand Kataruchak
Rabi Marketing Season: The Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is fully committed to ensure smooth procurement of wheat during the upcoming Hari Mandikaran Season (RMS) commencing from April 1, 2023 and in this regard adequate arrangements have been made in all mandis of the state. are
Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak said that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has approved a cash credit limit (CCL) of Rs 29,000 crore for smooth procurement process. The minister further said that the crop payments will be ensured from the first day and the fodder of the farmers will be bought.
Along with this, installation of vehicle tracking system in all transport vehicles used for transportation of wheat from procurement center to storage point has been made mandatory to prevent recycling of wheat.
Elaborating on the efforts being made for the welfare of farmers, the minister said that first-aid kits are being provided in all procurement centers so that any untoward incident can be dealt with on a precautionary and priority basis. Adequate arrangements have been made for drinking water and toilets in the procurement centers by the Mandi Board.
Lal Chand Kataruchak also said that the government will ensure that procurement operations resume within 24 hours of cessation of rain in any part of the state. Market Committees have been asked to coordinate with Municipal Committees and ensure availability of suction machines and adequate labor in case of rain during procurement period.
The Cabinet Minister instructed the officials involved in the procurement arrangements of all the districts to use full promptness in the markets so that the farmers do not face any problem. The minister appealed to the farmers to bring only dry and ripe crops to the procurement centers so that there is no delay in the procurement process.
