This bill is from 10 March 2022 to 31 May 2023, that is, within 15 months, tea, pakoras and coffee worth 85 lakhs have arrived in the Chief Minister’s office and home. Earlier, more than Rs 31 lakh was spent on tea and snacks in Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s office in the last 14 months. This was revealed in an RTI filed by RTI activist Gurjit Singh Gopalpuri resident of Patiala. According to which the tea and snacks bill for March 2022 was Rs 3.38 lakh.
After March, 2 lakh 73 thousand 788 rupees in April 2022, 3 lakh 55 thousand 795 rupees in May, 3 lakh 25 thousand 248 rupees in June, 2 lakh 58 thousand 347 rupees in July, 2 lakh 33 thousand 305 rupees in August, September and October. Two lakh 82 thousand 347 and one lakh 64 thousand 573 rupees respectively, one lakh 39 thousand 630 in November, one lakh 54 thousand 594 rupees were spent in December.
While one lakh 56 thousand 720 was spent in January 2023, one lakh 62 thousand 183 in February, one lakh 73 thousand 208 in March and one lakh 24 thousand 451 in April. It may be mentioned that earlier the food of former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi was also mired in controversies.
Channi, who became the Chief Minister for only three months, had a meal worth around 60 lakh rupees. Sometimes a plate of 300 rupees and sometimes 500 rupees would come to Channi’s house. Plates worth up to Rs 3900 were also ordered from the Taj Hotel. This revelation was also made through an RTI at that time.
