Today at Guru Ram Das College of Education Halwara (Ludhiana) Indo Punjabi Sahitya Academy of Australia (Ipsa) and Comrade Ratan Singh Halwara International Sahitya Kala Kendra organized a commemorative literary event of Punjabi writer and journalist Harbhajan Halwarvi.
Welcome words Comrade Ratan Singh Halwara World Literature Center President Prof. Gurbhajan Singh Gill said that it also increases our pride to be associated with the memory of two great people born in Halwara, Comrade Ratan Singh and Harbhajan Halwarvi.
At the beginning of the event, the Vice President of the Center Prof. Gopal Singh Buttar read the letter of honor of the honored personality Dr. Anoop Singh Batala.
The seventh Harbhajan Halwarvi Memorial Award was presented.
Dr. Speaking about Anup Singh, the chief guest of the event Dr. Waryam Singh Sandhu said that apart from making significant contributions in the field of prose creation and criticism, he is a scholar who has an approach to understand the theoretical journey of Gurmat philosophy and Marxist philosophy. Dr. Anoop Singh has so far published 44 original and edited books in the cradle of Punjabi literature.
Remembering the moments he spent with Harbhajan Halwarvi, he offered Shraddha Suman as the poet of anger and rebellion.
In this award, Dr. Anup Singh Batala was presented with Dr. Variam Singh Sandhu, Prof. Gurbhajan Singh Gill, Charanjit Singh Bath, famous farmer from America and famous as king of raisins, Dr. Surinder Gill, Prof. Pritpal Kaur Halwarvi, Darshan Buttar, President of Central Punjabi Writers. Sabha, Dr. Lakhwinder Johal, President Punjabi Sahit Academy Ludhiana, Dr. Haribhajan Singh Bhatia, Principal Ranjit Singh Dhaliwal, former President of Punjabi Sahit Academy Prof. Ravinder Singh Bhathal, Dr. Navtej Singh Halwarvi and Prof. Gopal Singh Buttar gave an amount of 21 thousand rupees, Dushala and Awards were presented.
Renowned Punjabi thinker Dr. Haribhajan Singh Bhatia, former Dean, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar shared his views on the humanitarian concerns and current crisis of Punjabi literature. He was honored along with his life partner Dr. Arvinder Kaur by wearing a doshala and a cash sum of 11 thousand rupees for a special speech. Dr. Waryam Singh Sandhu and Dr. Surinder Gill were also honored.
Sri Guru Ramdas College of Education Principal Ranjit Singh Dhaliwal also addressed the event. The stage was moderated by Punjabi poet Prabhjot Singh Sohi.
The Poet Darbar was presided over by poet Dr. Surinder Gill, a close contemporary of Harbhajan Halwarvi Ji and shared his memories related to Halwarvi during the establishment of Sahit Sabha Jagraon in 1959-60.

Harbhajan Halwarvi family from his brother Dr. Navtej Singh Halwarvi gave the vote of thanks. The event was telecast live by Malwa TV.
General Secretary of Punjabi Sahit Academy Ludhiana Dr. Guriqbal Singh, eminent orator and former DIG Gurpreet Singh Toor, Tarlochan Singh Grewal Holland, Sukhdev Singh Gill Rumi, nationally renowned photo artist and poet Ravideep Ravi, Punjabi poet Ramesh Janu Batala were present in the event. Many prominent people of the area were present. On this occasion, a book exhibition was also organized by Spread Publication Rampur (Ludhiana). Prof. Gurbhajan Singh Gill congratulated the author on the second edition of the ghazal book Rooh Vela by Rajdeep Singh Toor in Gurmukhi and Shahmukhi format in Pakistan.
