700 roads closed including Chandigarh-Shimla forelane

Two incidents of cloudburst occurred in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh. In Pandoh, one person died after being crushed under debris, while a school building was swept away into a drain. After heavy rain, more than 700 roads including Chandigarh-Shimla, Chandigarh-Manali four lane have been closed.

All government and private schools and colleges in Shimla, Hamirpur and Mandi districts have been closed for two days in view of the weather department’s alert. Schools will remain closed in Palampur, Dehra, Jaisingpur. 23-34 exams have also been postponed in Himachal University.


On the other hand, Uttarakhand is also receiving heavy rain for the last 24 hours. Many houses were flooded in Udham Singh Nagar. SDRF team rescued 60 people. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for rain in the state on Wednesday.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Tuesday announced an aid of Rs 10 crore for rain-hit Himachal Pradesh. Earlier on August 19, the Chhattisgarh government had also announced to give 11 crore rupees to Himachal Pradesh.
