5.72 crore sanctioned for rehabilitation of water distribution structure of 7 dams in Kandhi region: Meet Hare

As part of the efforts being made by the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to make water distribution better and more efficient in the state, Water Resources Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Heyer has announced that 7 banks of Kandhi area under Area Dam Circle of Water Resources Department, Hoshiarpur An amount of Rs 5.72 crore has been sanctioned for the restoration of dams.

The Water Resources Minister said that the existing 7 low water level dams in the Kandhi region such as Sleran Dam, Perch Dam, Patyari Dam, Thana Dam, Jainti Dam, Siswan Dam and Mirzapur Dam where to deal with the rain water of Shivalik Hills and irrigate the Kandhi region. At the same time, they also play an important role in protecting this area from floods through a proper water distribution system.

Meet Hare further said that the distribution system of these 7 dams has stalled due to non-maintenance, due to which the area covered by these 7 dams in the coastal region is not being irrigated. A project has been prepared to open and make the water distribution network system of 7 dams functional with the help of air compressor.

The Water Resources Minister further said that the state government is making continuous efforts to strengthen the irrigation infrastructure in Punjab. It is preparing a better network to reach canal water to the farmers.
