The elections of Mayor, Senior Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor in Chandigarh Municipal Corporation were to be held on January 18. In this regard, a notification was also issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Chandigarh, Vinay Kumar, but on January 16, there was a commotion while withdrawing the nomination papers of Congress mayoral candidate Jasveer Singh Bunty and the election officer appointed by the Deputy Commissioner suddenly fell ill.
Due to this the election was postponed. After this, Congress and Aam Aadmi Party councilors created a huge ruckus outside the Municipal Corporation office. Only after this both these petitions were filed in the court.
