26280 people have been evacuated from the flood affected areas to safer places by speeding up the relief operations in the state and as per the directives of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. As of 8 am on July 18, 1432 villages are affected by the flood, an official spokesperson said. A total of 155 relief camps have been established in the state, in which 3828 people are staying.
It is worth mentioning that Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, Fatehgarh Sahib, Faridkot, Hoshiarpur, Rupnagar, Kapurthala, Patiala, Moga, Ludhiana, S.A.S. Nagar, Jalandhar, Sangrur, SBS. 19 districts including Nagar, Fazilka, Gurdaspur, Mansa, Bathinda and Pathankot have been affected by the floods.
According to reports received by the revenue department from various districts, a total of 38 people have lost their lives and 15 have been injured due to floods in the state while 2 are still missing. According to the information received from the animal husbandry department, a total of 2198 animals were treated and 7243 animals were vaccinated in the state. Rescue teams of the department are working day and night to provide treatment, feed supply, fodder and silage to the needy animals.
Health department teams are working diligently in the flood affected areas. According to the spokesperson, 458 Rapid Response Teams are working in the flood affected areas. The health department has set up 244 medical camps in the affected areas and OPDs. The total number is 8531.
He further informed that dry food packets are being distributed continuously in the flood affected areas. 21,971 in Rupnagar, 64,000 in Patiala and S.A.S. 4000 in Nagar, SBS. 5700 packets have been distributed in Nagar and 2200 in Fatehgarh Sahib.
