33 new short term courses: In order to make its center at SAS Nagar (Mohali) more active, Punjabi University has started 33 new short term courses, which were inaugurated by Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhawan today. have been started with the support of the foundation.

Let us tell you that as a stage of activation of this center, its name was changed to ‘Punjabi University Center for Emerging and Innovative Technology, Mohali’ in the past. In this direction, these new courses related to Artificial Intelligence and Data Science have been started. have been done

During the special inaugural session held at this centre, Kultar Singh Sandhawan said that a new era has begun in Punjab with the introduction of such timely courses. He said that it is the need of time to connect with the technology which is to usher in a new era. So all these courses will be useful. He said that now Punjab has woken up and such new types of courses needed in the new era of technology will make the youth of Punjab more capable. He said that now the era of education in the true sense has started in Punjab. He said that he has informed the Chief Minister of Punjab about this exclusive initiative of Punjabi University. Bhagwant Singh will also discuss with Hon. so that work can be done with more capacity in this direction.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Speaking on this occasion, Arvind said that if the Punjabi University is to become a new generation in the true sense, then it is inevitable that such new steps will have to be taken. He said that along with the traditional type of courses, now we have to start such exclusive type of programs compulsorily. On this occasion, he also mentioned the five-year integrated courses started earlier by the university and also talked about some academic centers established for various purposes. During a comment, he said that now in the laboratories of the university, the work cannot be carried out with the help of the experiments done fifty years ago, but there is a need to be updated in every aspect in every field. Talking about the nature of technology, he said that the field of technology changes at a very fast pace. Therefore, the curriculum of these newly introduced courses will be continuously changed.

Sarbjot Singh, co-founder of Sabudh Foundation, on this occasion explained in detail about the initial stage of his organization and its working methods and types of work. He said that he had come from abroad after getting the education of this technology. Coming here, he chose Punjab as his career ground and not the famous cities of South India like other experts in this field.

It is worth mentioning that during December 2018, the then Vice Chancellor Prof. Under the leadership of Bhura Singh Ghuman, an agreement was signed with the Sabudh Foundation which has now been implemented. The Sabudh Foundation is a non-profit organization working in the field of data science. This institute creates courses according to the needs of the present era and brings such courses to the students in collaboration with various educational institutions. For this purpose, this organization partners with various government and non-government organizations.

Sabudh Foundation has signed agreements not only with Punjabi University but also with North Indian government institutions Guru Nanak Dev University, Punjab University, Punjab Engineering College, Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology and Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College Ludhiana. About 400 students of Punjabi University have been trained by Sabudh in the past.

The uniqueness of these courses launched by ‘Punjabi University Center for Emerging and Innovative Technology, Mohali’ in association with this institution is that students as well as working professionals and business people can take admission in them. New changes happen every day in the field of data science. Sabudh Foundation continuously changes the syllabus of these courses according to these changes.

The content creation of these 33 short-term courses has been a partnership between the faculty of the university and the Sabudh Foundation. The university faculty have regularly undergone six weeks of training to update themselves in the field required for these courses and have produced the required materials for the curricula. This content is still under construction. The content of these courses is aimed to be updated according to the changes in technology.

Coordinator Dr. from the center in Mohali. Rekha Bhatia while sharing some basic points about the courses said that all these 33 courses are of different duration. This period ranges from one week to twelve weeks. These short-term courses mainly include Python programming, data science, machine learning, deep learning, certificate in data, natural language processing, etc. These courses will have a provision of 2,3,4 or 10 credits. Five courses are also being run for one year duration including ‘Advanced Program in Data Science’, ‘Advanced Program in Business Analytics’, ‘Internet of Things’. , contains names of ‘drone developers’.

One course is of one and a half year i.e. 18 months which is related to the use of complex data science systems. All these courses will be conducted in both morning and evening batches. Apart from students, working professionals will also be able to enroll in these courses.
