Kerala : 21 people died after a tourist boat capsized in Kerala’s Malappuram district on Sunday. According to news agency PTI, more than 30 people were on board the boat. Kerala Sports Minister V Abdurrahman has confirmed the death of 20 people based on the information received from various hospitals.

He said that most of the dead are children and women. 4 people have been admitted to Kotakkal Hospital in critical condition. There is no official statement yet about the cause of the accident. However, according to locals, the boat was overcrowded and did not have enough life-jackets. Due to which such an incident has happened.

Rescue operations continue
The accident took place near Tuwalthiram beach in Tanur area of ​​Malpuram district at around 7 pm on Sunday. The boat is brought to shore. Regional fire range officer Shiju KK said that the exact number of people on board the boat has not been ascertained. Considering the possibility of other people getting trapped in such a situation, a rescue operation is being conducted.
