These patwaris are those who were recruited on contract after retirement to run the vacant patwar circles. They quit their jobs against the government’s decision to implement the ESMA Act and after the Chief Minister called patwaris and kanungos corrupt.
Punjab Patwar Kanungo Union President Harveer Singh has confirmed this. He has told that the retired patwaris in 17 patwar circles of Jalandhar and 2 patwar circles of Amritsar have clearly refused to work on contract and have sent their resignation to the concerned authorities.
DC of Jalandhar transferred 61 patwaris
Amid the ongoing dispute between Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and patwaris Kanungo, the government has now started cracking down on patwaris. The Patwaris had left the additional charge if the demands were not met, after which the government had decided to release the under-training Patwaris into the field. Now after their arrival, the government has started moving the old patwaris.
The Deputy Commissioner of Jalandhar has transferred 28 patwaris. Now a new list has also come out. In which 61 patwaris have been transferred. Also, the DC has assigned additional duties to vacant circles while appointing retired Patwaris on contract. So that the Jatna does not face any trouble on the edition circles left by the permanent Patwaris.
