The situation at Shambhu border in Ambala remains tense. Farmers from Punjab and Haryana are going to Chandigarh from here. Which is being blocked by the police of Haryana and Punjab. Ambala Range IG Shibaz Kaviraj has arrived here from Haryana. No farmer is being allowed to pass through here. Due to this, there is a heavy jam on the Shambhu border.
This farmer leader in custody
Even before reaching Chandigarh, the local administration had taken many important decisions. In order not to worsen the situation in the capital, some farmers’ leaders have been detained, including Sukhwinder Singh, Sarwan Singh Pandher, Mandeep Nathwan, Jagdeep Singh Aulakh, Sanjeev Roar, Amarjit Singh Mohri and some other farmers’ faces of Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh. The committee has since been detained.
Amritsar farmer leaders Sarwan Singh Pandher and Sukhwinder Singh Sabra were detained on Monday but on Tuesday morning more than 6 farmers leaders have been detained. In opposition to this, farmers have made 2 plazas free for common people.
These are the demands of the farmers
50 thousand rupees per acre compensation for flood affected crops, 10 lakh rupees compensation for the families of the deceased, 1 lakh rupees for the livestock killed as per the permanent solution plan for Ghaggar and other rivers, collapsed. MNREGA scheme should be implemented in flood affected areas. All taxes and interest waived for one year for flood victims. Apart from this, the farmers have also demanded a special package of Rs 50 thousand crore from the central government for the damage caused due to floods in the whole of North India.
On the other hand, Congress is also looking aggressive on the government. Congress workers under the leadership of state Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Waring staged a dharna in Mohali over the death of a farmer in Sangrur and the demand to fulfill the farmers’ demands.
