15 people died due to explosion in transformer in Chamoli

Uttarakhand Transformer Blast: A major accident took place in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district on Tuesday night. 15 people died and many were injured after a transformer exploded on the banks of Alaknanda river here. Chamoli SP Parminder Doval has confirmed the incident. He said that the injured have been admitted to the district hospital.

Uttarakhand Additional Director General of Police V Murugesan said that around 15 people, including a police sub-inspector and five home guards, have died. The investigation is ongoing. Prima facie it is found that there was current on the railing and further details will come out after investigation.

According to information, work is going on at the Namami Gange project site in Chamoli. At the time of the accident on Wednesday, 24 people were present at the scene, out of which around 15 people have died due to burns.

Current spread through meter wires

Amit Saxena, executive engineer of Chamoli’s power corporation, said that the electricity of the third phase was stopped last night. The third phase was added on Wednesday morning, after which the sewage treatment plant premises got electricity. LT and ST wires from transformer to meter are not broken anywhere, current is flowing in wires after meter.

Eyewitnesses said that the caretaker, who stayed here at night, was not ringing in the morning. After which the relatives came to the spot and searched. Then it was learned that the caretaker died due to electrocution. As soon as the information about the incident was received, the villagers along with the family members also reached the spot. When he reached here, the police were investigating the case. Meanwhile, the current spread there again. Many people came under its influence.

CM Dhami has ordered an investigation

CM Pushkar Singh Dhami has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the death of people due to electrocution. Along with this, the officials were also instructed to investigate the incident closely. He took information about the incident from DM Chamoli.
