In an exemplary initiative aimed at creating interest in reading among the youth of Punjab, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann today dedicated 12 state-of-the-art libraries to the people of the state.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that these 12 libraries are just the beginning and 16 more such libraries will be inaugurated soon.

The Chief Minister said that these world-class libraries are equipped with state-of-the-art facilities to make them a paradise for book lovers. He said that the libraries have air conditioners, inverters, CCTVs. Cameras, Wi-Fi and other modern facilities are provided. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that these libraries will actually be a repository of knowledge and literature. He said that it is a matter of great pride for us that these libraries have precious books of various subjects, which are attracting book lovers.

The Chief Minister said that there are many rare and precious books in the libraries, which will prove to be valuable assets for book lovers. He hoped that these libraries would prove to be a milestone in changing the fortunes of students. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the purpose of this is to prepare the youth to become active partners in the socio-economic progress of the state.

The Chief Minister said that the state government will now implement the scheme called ‘Pahal’ running in this district to make every house a production unit across Punjab. Citing the example of China, he said that now Punjab will be made a leader in the construction of settlements worldwide through this system. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that Punjabis have inherited the character of hard work and dedication, through which they are raising the flags of their success in every field.

The Chief Minister announced that the state government will get the uniforms of the government schools of Punjab stitched from self-help groups. He further said that self-help groups are functioning in the villages of the state and this step will help in strengthening the functioning of these groups. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that this step will play an important role in the empowerment of women especially in rural areas.

The Chief Minister said that the powers have been used by the previous governments to fulfill their personal interests or that of their family members. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that these leaders have always fooled the common man due to which people have shown them the way out of power. He said that the present government is trying to serve the people by building hospitals, schools etc. instead of robbing them.

The Chief Minister said that the state government has given 36521 jobs in the state in just 18 months of its tenure and has set a record of giving 2000 government jobs to the youth every month. He said that no previous government had given so many jobs to the youth in the initial months of its tenure. Bhagwant Singh Mann reiterated that the state government is giving jobs to the youth on the basis of merit in a transparent manner.

Attacking the opposition parties, the Chief Minister said that the people who were living in mansions during their period of power have been excluded from the political scene of the state. He said that the state has seen the dawn of a new era because the people have shown the way out of power to these leaders who were considered invincible. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that due to this change has been seen in Punjab and for the first time pro-people decisions are being taken by a government.

The Chief Minister reiterated that no one will be spared who loots the money of Punjab and its people. He said that the corrupt elements will be put behind the jails and will not be spared at any cost. Bhagwant Singh Mann demanded the full cooperation of the people in the struggle waged by the state government against corruption.

The Chief Minister said that the state government will soon issue NOC for land registry. It will also solve the related issue. He said that for this purpose Artificial Intelligence (AI) is being introduced for identification and demarcation of land. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the state government is fully prepared to bring a new revolution in revenue, police, taxation, health, agriculture and other departments.

The Chief Minister also said that due to the tireless efforts of the state government, the athletes of the state are shining the name of the state in the Asian Games. He said that the state government is encouraging the players by giving them cash prizes and other facilities. Bhagwant Singh Mann further said that for the first time in the history of the state, financial assistance is being given to sportspersons for the preparation of international competitions.
