Local Government Minister Dr. Inderbir Singh Nijhar has announced that the Punjab Government will spend about Rs 1.50 crore for bio-remediation of heritage waste at Sangrur’s municipal solid waste dump site Dhuri and Bhawanigarh and for the supply of sweeping machines. The decision has been taken.
Giving more information in this regard, Minister of Local Government Dr. Inderbir Singh Nijhar has said that about 30 lakh rupees for supply of sweeping machine (diesel operated) for Municipal Council, Dhuri and for bio-remediation of heritage waste at municipal dump site of Municipal Council, Dhuri and Bhawanigarh (Sangrur). 72.50 lakh and 49.98 lakh will be spent respectively. Dr. Nijhar further said that these works to be done at Municipal Council, Dhuri and Bhawanigarh will not only benefit the large population of the area but also save people from serious diseases spread by pollution.

The minister said that the local government department has started the office process for these works. He said that tenders for these works have been uploaded on the Punjab government website www.eproc.punjab.gov.in. He also said that if there is a need to make any amendment in these tenders, then all the information will be made available on this website. He directed the officials of the department to ensure transparency and maintain quality standards in all development works.
