Bureau Report: During the flood, when the people were disturbed, the SDM PCS officer of Nangal, Udaydeep Singh Sidhu, was absent from his duty. Due to his irresponsible action, Punjab Chief Secretary Anurag Verma has taken strict action against him. Udaydeep Singh has been suspended.

A report was filed by District Rupnagar Deputy Commissioner Preeti Yadav on 17 August 2023 in which it was stated that Udaideep Singh Sidhu who is the SDM of Nangal was absent during the flood days when there was an emergency.

SDM out of touch with DC

DC Preeti Yadav said that Udaideep Singh Sidhu was out of touch and his behavior was irresponsible. Udaydeep Sidhu has been relieved from service with immediate effect under Rule 4(1) of the Punjab Civil Act, 1970. There were flood-like conditions in the district, in which all the administration officials and religious organizations, social workers were engaged in helping but SDM Udaiveer was absent from duty. Not only these, District DC Preeti Yadav was present on the ground day and night and was providing full help to the flood affected area. But the non-attendance of the SDM of Nangal Block, which was the most affected by the flood, is a big negligence.

The decision was taken after considering the Chief Minister

It is being told that Chief Secretary Anurag Verma has suspended Udaydeep Sandhu from the job only after discussing with Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. Chief Minister Field Officer Amanjot Kaur has been given the additional charge of SDM of Nangal.
