WhatsApp Banned in India: WhatsApp has banned more than 47 lakh accounts in India in the month of March. This action has been taken on about 2 lakh more accounts compared to last month. WhatsApp said in its monthly report that earlier in February, the company had banned more than 45 lakh accounts.

Along with this, the company banned 29 lakh accounts in January, 36 lakh in December and 37 lakh in November. The company releases this user safety report every month, which contains complete details of how many complaints the company has received from users and what action has been taken on them.

47 lakh accounts were banned

In its monthly report, WhatsApp said that in the month of March, WhatsApp had banned more than 47 lakh accounts. The report states that 47,15,906 WhatsApp accounts were banned between March 1, 2023 and March 31, 2023. Of these, 16,59,385 accounts were actively banned.

Major social media platforms are often used to spread hate speech, misinformation and fake news. To avoid this kind of situation social media platforms have to take steps like banning accounts.

How is the action?

According to this report of WhatsApp, in the month of March, the company received a total of 4720 complaints and action was taken on 585 accounts. Among these reports, 4316 reports related to ‘ban appeal’, while the rest were related to account support, product support and security.
