WhatsApp Accounts Ban in India: Meta-owned app Whatsapp banned more than 45 lakh accounts in February, which is more than the number of accounts banned last month. WhatsApp has given this information in its monthly report on India.

Let us tell you that before this WhatsApp banned 29 lakh accounts in January, 36 lakh accounts in December and 37 lakh accounts in November. “As per the latest monthly report, WhatsApp banned more than 45 lakh accounts in the month of February,” said a Whatsapp spokesperson. Indian account is identified through +91 phone number. “Between February 1, 2023 and February 28, 2023, 4597400 WhatsApp accounts were banned,” the report released on Saturday said. Of these, 1,298,000 accounts were banned as a precaution before receiving any complaints from users.

According to the latest report, during February, 2,804 complaint reports were received and 504 accounts were “actioned”. Of the total reports received, 2548 were ‘ban appeals’, while other complaints were related to account support, product support, security and other issues.

It has been said in the report, we respond to all complaints. Only complaints that are exactly the same as the previous complaint are not responded to. Under Information Technology (IT) regulations, large digital platforms (those with more than 5 million users) are required to publish compliance reports every month. This report details the complaints received and action taken on them. Social media companies have come under fire in the past for hate speech, misinformation and fake news.
