Kolkata. Forcing a minor to sleep by taking off his undergarments is also like rape. The judge of the Calcutta High Court made this comment while hearing a case. The High Court said that even though the minor was not physically raped in this case, the court has kept this type of act in the category of crime.

Let us tell you that the Balurghat District and Sessions Court of South Dinajpur has convicted a person named Ravi Rai for sexually abusing a minor and sentenced him. It is being told that on May 7, 2007, around 6.30 pm, Ravi took a minor girl to a deserted place near the house by luring her with ice cream. There the minor was asked to remove his underwear. On her refusal, Ravi forcibly removed her clothes and made her lie down. The minor started screaming.

Hearing his voice, the people around reached there and after thrashing Ravi, handed him over to the police. In November 2008, the court sentenced Ravi to six months’ rigorous imprisonment with five-and-a-half years’ imprisonment and a fine of Rs 3,000. About fifteen years ago, Ravi challenged this decision given by the lower court in the High Court.

Justice Ananya Banerjee gave a big statement

While hearing the matter, High Court Justice Ananya Banerjee said, “The petitioner had no other reason for giving ice cream to the minor other than to fulfill his sexual desire. In the course of preparation, he lured the victim with ice cream and then took her to a deserted place. After this he asked the victim to open her clothes. It refers to an attempt to commit a crime like rape. No evidence of physical injury or sexual abuse has been found in the medical examination of the minor.
