Voting today for the Jalandhar Lok Sabha by-election

Voting for the Jalandhar Lok Sabha by-election will be held today. Voting will start from 8 am and will continue till 6 pm. Earlier, mock polling has started at 1972 polling booths. 1972 polling stations have been built in this Lok Sabha seat with 9 assembly constituencies, on which 16 lakh 21 thousand voters of the district will choose the new member of parliament.

Santokh Singh Chaudhary, Member of Parliament from Jalandhar, died of a heart attack during Rahul Gandhi’s visit to India in January this year. After which by-elections are being held here. Congress has a challenge to save its stronghold in this by-election because Congress has been winning here continuously for the last 4 times. Santokh Singh Chaudhary was also elected Member of Parliament for two consecutive terms. This time Congress has given ticket to his wife Karamjit Kaur.

The challenge before the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is to save its image. After forming the government in the state, they have lost the Sangrur elections. In such a situation, if we lose here too, questions will arise on the methodology of the government. In view of this, AAP has given ticket to former Congress MLA Sushil Rinku by joining the party.

It is a big challenge before the BJP to remove the resentment that has arisen after the Kisan movement. For this reason, former Akali MLA Inder Iqbal Atwal has been included in the party and made a candidate.

The challenge before the Akali Dal is to save its existence as it has lost two consecutive assembly elections in Punjab. If it loses here too, it may become difficult for the Lok Sabha elections to be held after 11 months next year. Akali Dal has also got the support of BSP in the elections.
