Voting in 119 assembly seats of Telangana has started from 7 am today. It will continue till 5 pm. There are more than 3.17 crore voters in the state. Of these, 8 lakh people will vote for the first time. It will decide the fate of 3 thousand 948 candidates. The results will be out on December 3.
The term of the Telangana Legislative Assembly is going to end on 16 January 2024. Assembly elections were last held in December 2018 and the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) formed the government. Chandrasekhar Rao became the Chief Minister for the second time.
TRS has now been renamed BRS (Bharat Rashtra Samiti). This time the election is a direct contest between the ruling BRS and the Congress. BJP is also trying this time. In the year 2018, BRS got 88 seats and Congress got 19 seats. Along with this, only one seat came to BJP’s account.
