deep in debt Telecom company Vodafone Idea’s consolidated net loss widened to Rs 7,990 crore in the October-December quarter of the current financial year. A year ago, in the same quarter of 2021-22, the company had a net loss of Rs 7,234.1 crore. However, Vodafone Idea’s operating income rose 9.29 per cent to Rs 10,620.6 crore in the quarter ended December 2022 from Rs 9,717.3 crore in the year-ago quarter. On the other hand, the net profit of state-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) increased by 26 percent for the third quarter ended December of the current financial year due to increase in the prices of oil and natural gas. The company said in a communication sent to the stock exchanges that it has earned a net profit of Rs 11,044.73 crore, or Rs 8.78 per share, in the October-December quarter, compared to Rs 8,763.72 crore, or Rs 6.97 per share, in the year-ago period. This profit, however, is lower than the Rs 12,825.99 crore in the July-September quarter.

Bata’s profit up 15% at Rs 83 crore

Footwear maker Bata Limited’s integrated net profit for the third quarter ended December 2022 increased by 15 percent to Rs 83.19 crore. Bata India said in a filing to the stock market on Tuesday that the company had earned a consolidated net profit of Rs 72.32 crore in the corresponding period of the previous financial year. The consolidated income from operations during the quarter under review stood at Rs 900.21 crore as against Rs 841.3 crore in the year-ago period. Total expenses during the quarter stood at Rs 798.04 crore, as against Rs 757.6 crore in the same period a year ago. At the same time, the integrated net profit of Shree Renuka Sugars Ltd declined by 67 percent to Rs 14.2 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2022. The profit of the company decreased mainly due to increase in expenses. In the same quarter a year ago, the company had a net profit of Rs 43.3 crore. In the information given to the stock market on Tuesday, the company said that the total income of the company increased to Rs 2,563.2 crore in the third quarter of the current financial year as against the total income of Rs 2,025.3 crore in the same period of the previous year. Total expenses rose to Rs 2,548.4 crore in the October-December quarter from Rs 1,981.8 crore in the same period last fiscal.

BCL’s profit crossed Rs 25 crore

Edible oil maker BCL Industries Ltd.’s net profit increased by 4 per cent to Rs 25.16 crore in the October-December quarter of the current financial year. The company said in the information given to the stock market on Tuesday that earlier in the same quarter of the financial year 2021-22, the company had a net profit of Rs 24.22 crore. BCL Industries’ total income for the quarter ended December 2022 stood at Rs 450.43 crore as against Rs 566.59 crore in the corresponding quarter of 2021-22 a year ago. The company’s expenses declined to Rs 417.09 crore during the quarter under review as against Rs 534.88 crore in the year-ago quarter.
