Transport Minister Laljit Bhullar issued new instructions regarding traffic rules

Punjab Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar today issued new instructions to all RTA Secretaries and SDMs. He directed all of them to conduct a joint traffic checking campaign to ensure compliance of traffic rules in the state. Also deal strictly with any violators.

In the letter written in this regard, he has said that the instructions and orders issued by the High Court from time to time have been taken seriously by the government, in view of which there is a need to conduct a strict traffic checking campaign. Meanwhile, the Cabinet Minister instructed the RTA Secretaries and SDMs that guidelines have been issued from time to time regarding road safety by the ‘Road Safety’ based committee constituted by the Supreme Court. To ensure these rules, Secretary RTA and SDM should speed up traffic checking.

The Transport Minister directed the school managements to fully implement the Safe School Vehicle Scheme in their schools to ensure the safety of life and property of the children in view of the commencement of the new academic session of the schools.

He said that under the safe school vehicle scheme launched by the Bhagwant Mann government, school buses should be checked because it is a serious matter and the safety of children traveling in school buses is the collective responsibility of the concerned departments. He said that tampering with the safety of students will not be tolerated.
