After withdrawing Rs 2000 notes from circulation on May 19, the Reserve Bank of India has allowed people to deposit or exchange notes in banks from May 23. The Finance Ministry has said that 88 percent of the Rs 2000 notes have returned to the banks. While more than 40 percent of the Rs 2000 notes have returned to the market after being converted into other denomination notes. 88 percent notes deposited in banks: In the latest report, the Ministry of Finance has released the statistics of deposits of Rs 2000 notes in banks. According to the ministry, about 88 percent of Rs 2000 notes have been deposited in banks. Now this note is less than 18 percent left in the market.
Number of Rs 2000 Notes: 19 May 2023 When the RBI decided to withdraw the 2000 note from circulation, data shows that as of March 2018, Rs 6.73 lakh crore notes were in circulation, with the share of Rs 2000 notes being 37.3% of the total notes. By March 31, 2023, this number had come down to Rs 3.62 lakh crore. Out of this more than 1.8 lakh crore has been refunded.
